English III      English IV
 
American Literature is the focus in English III. The class will study the earliest writings from the colonial times and the influences upon that writing. As America progressed the writing changed to reflect the times. From early Puritan attitudes that led to the revolution and the Romantic period that evolved into the Modern period, all aspects of American Literature will studied.

British Literature is the focus in English IV. The class will study the beginning of English as a language, English as it evolved with writings, and English poems, sonnets, and ballads. From Beowulf to Chaucer and on to Shakespeare the English IV class with study all examples of period pieces.
